The materials in this collection were created between 1921 and 1990. They include two books from the Justice's personal library, an issue of Case and Comment with an article by Enselman, a photograph of Enselman, three letters from friends and family, and materials relating to his memorial book by the New York County Lawyers Association Library Committee. Collection includes legal papers signed by both Enselman and Oliver Wendell Holmes, with two letters from Alger Hill tipped in and an account written by Enselman of his meeting with Hiss and Holmes.

Isidor Enselman was born in 1888 in New York City. He received his law degree from New York University School of Law, class of 1909. Enselman's career included posts as a lawyer as well as Special Deputy Attorney General; he was a member of the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States, trial counsel, participating in numerous important and leading cases.
